- Joined Takenaka and Associates, San Francisco and worked at
Conklin and Rosant, New York

- Appointed Head of Design Dep. of the Tokyo office of
Takenaka Corporation.
- 1985
- Appointed Principal Architect at Takenaka Corporation.
Buildings completed during this tenure include
MOA Museum at Atami, Yurakucho Mullion Bldg.,
Ote Center Office Bldg.
Minobusan Kuonji Temple (all of which received BCS awards)
amongst others.

- Awarded First Prize in the international design competition for the New National Theater, Tokyo (provisional name).
